Honouring the Strength of Women Worldwide: International Women's Day 2024 - Bruna's Journey

Q: Tell us about when & how your fitness journey began.

A: I entered my fitness journey as I came out of a broken 10 year relationship. I was mentally and physically exhausted and I had put on weight after a hip and shoulder surgery. Feeling unfit and unhappy, I dragged myself into a local gym group with several branches close to my new home and I started attending fitness classes like Zumba, body pump, Pilates, body balance as well as using gym equipment as well.

Q: What is your favourite physical activity and why?

A: I love the fitness classes, I attend up to 10 classes a week, following my favourite instructors and classes and I consider fitness as part of my everyday life. I only miss it if my work requires me to. otherwise it's part of my everyday routine. I also choose healthier food options now, eating as clean as I can, following a Mediterranean diet.

Q: Where are you at today in your health & fitness journey and how has this impacted your life?

A: I've lost weight, gained strength and tone. I feel less anxious, sleep netter and am more active and energetic. I've also found a new life partner. I socialise with my gym buddies, and we listen to each other's stories and support each other on our fitness journey. We go out for coffees and social events and we feel really connected.

Q: What are your tips for busy women who are the beginning of their health & fitness journey?

A: As with many things in life, the hard work gets results and the rewards are living longer and stronger while enjoying a healthy lifestyle with family and friends. Make fitness and looking after yourself a part of your routine, just like brushing your teeth or making your bed.
